Flagworks believes that "safety is everyone's responsibility". Every Associate is considered to be responsible, not just for their safety, but for the safety and health of all Associates and visitors on Flagworks properties.
EVERYONE at Flagworks is responsible to:
- Identify and eliminate or remedy all hazards that could lead to an occupational injury or disease
- Ensure there is a clean and sanitary workplace
- Assist in the process of ensuring that all equipment and machinery has been maintained in a safe and adequate manner
- Ensure that work processes are being completed in a safe manner by Associates who are instructed, trained and reasonably skilled at a task or who are under supervision of a competent Associate
- Understand their right to refuse unsafe work and stop the practice of a co-Associate that may be unsafe
- Participate in the process of reviewing events, such as near misses or incidents, that could potentially prevent a future injury or unsafe incident
Flagworks adheres to The Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act which identifies two categories of responsibilities. The first category applies to the Employer and the second to the Worker.
1. Every Employer shall ensure, that as far as reasonably practical for him to do so:
The health and safety of all workers engaged in work of that Employer, and those workers not engaged in the work of that Employer, but are present at the worksite.
Workers engaged in the work of their Employer are aware of their responsibilities and duties under this act and regulations.
The health and safety responsibilities of the Workers are defined by section 2.2 which states:
2. Every Worker shall, while engaged in an occupation:
Take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of him/herself and other Workers present while he is working, and co-operate with his Employer for the purposes of protecting the
health and safety of:
himself, other workers engaged in the work of the Employer, other workers not engaged in the work of the Employer, but present at the site at which work is being done.
At Flagworks it is policy that the above Alberta legislation is met and/or exceeded.
